Who Is It For?

What Is It About?

Facing the Giants is the story of Grant Taylor, a high school football coach with a mediocre record. After several poor seasons, the Shiloh Eagles are considering replacing him as head coach. This is not the only problem Taylor is facing; his car is breaking down, the players' fathers are trying to get him fired, and he discovers that he is the reason that he and his wife Brooke aren't able to have children. In order to find a solution to these problems, he prays to God for help. He creates a new coaching philosophy and decides to praise God after each game, no matter what the result. At the same time he guides and urges each one of his players to give the maximum effort, and motivates them to believe they can win under God's guidance. From that point on, he loses only one game but eventually goes on to win the state championship due to their 1st playoffs opponent being disqualified. His prayers for children are also answered when he and his wife have two children of their own.

Renewal Inside & Out

Spring is here. It's been an odd past few weeks with temperatures up high, then down low, and then back to somewhere in-between. But the evidence of Spring is all around us, with lush green grass, tulips popping up, and trees budding. I'm sure you've already smelled the wonderful aroma of freshly cut grass.

This is a wonderful time of year, and I can't help feeling awe at God's creation every time I see it.

Easter is past, but its affects linger on. No, not this Easter - I'm talking about the first Easter a couple thousand years ago. The day Jesus arose from His tomb, claiming victory over death. Victory over our deaths as well.

For those of us who believe in Jesus and why he had to die on Good Friday, what his sacrifice meant, and just how profound his victory over death is, we find a renewl within. A spiritual renewal.

You won't see the effects like you can see the tulips grow and sprout beautiful colors. You can't smell it like that fresh cut grass. But you can see the effects through our own spiritual growth. Through our growth as better members of our congregation, community, and as members of our family.

Jesus started a "Spring" within us, that will grow into a beautiful garden made up of caring, compassion, love, respect, peace, and joy. Joy for knowing an eternal death won't be waiting for us when our bodies fail.

Some of our spiritual gardens may grow slower than others, but God tends to His gardens with perfect love and care, that only a perfect God can have.

Enjoy the life He's given you and enjoy the changes in your 'garden' as you blossom into a child of God. While you're at it, take the time to enjoy the real gardens around you. Those made up of flowers, trees, and all the other beautiful things God has given us as a gift.

~ May God bless you richly. Enjoy your Spring ~
