The purpose of the Welcoming Committee is to welcome and connect new members with an existing Trinity member. This is accomplished by a Trinity member and a new member meeting and connecting at a potluck dinner the night prior to joining the church at the next Sunday morning worship. The existing church member will introduce the new church member to the congregation and will hopefully continue a relationship of Christian fellowship.
The Education Committee provides Bible-based education programs for all ages from preschool through adult that awakens, fortifies and deepens each individual’s Christian faith. Programs include Sunday School (Pre-K through 7th grade), Summer Vacation Bible School (Pre-K through 6th grades), Logos, Confirmation, Youth Group and Adult Christian Education. The committee also presents scholarships to graduating high school seniors going onto further education, and to seminary students from the Seminary Fund. It also arranges for Confirmation Students and Graduating Senior gifts, and 3rd and 7th grade Bibles presentations. The committee administers the Adopt-a-Highway Program for the church through the Youth Group, and holds the Sunday School Christmas Program reception.
The Nine-thirty Worship Team is a group of three or four committed to outlining specific plans for the 9:30 a.m. service. Called on an “as-needed” basis, the group looks ahead about three months, coordinating scripture, hymns, choir music, and occasional worship enhancements such as drama, visuals, special music, etc.
The Auditing Committee consists of three persons who once a year goes through all the financial accounts of the church to verify that these balances agree with the bank accounts. They complete a report showing beginning balances, income, expenses and year end balances. This report is kept on file in the church office and a copy is sent to the Conference. As with any organization where funds are involved, annual auditing is very important. Members of this committee serve a term of three years.
The Memorial Committee manages the general memorial fund – those donations given as a memorial to the church that are not designated for a specific need or project. Requests can be made to the committee by individuals or groups within the church for funding for specific needs/desires in the form of a “wish list” and the committee determines the appropriateness of using memorial funds for the purchase and how much money will be directed from the fund toward the purchase. In other cases, a general need for the church is brought to the committee’s attention and we determine the appropriateness of using memorial funds for the request and then investigate the products/services needed to meet the need. Lastly, if memorials are directed to a general area (such as missions), the committee chooses the specific designation (such as Red Bird Mission).
The purpose of the Compassionate Fund is to assist those less fortunate. We oversee the CropWalk, the Lomira Food Pantry, and distribute funds when the need arises. This could be for rent, utilities, medical expenses or maybe for a traveler to be put up for a night. It could also be for gas money. The bottom line is we are here to assist who ever needs help no matter who they are.
The Choir is a part of most traditional worship services. Its role is to help lead worship and to enhance it. There are no age or requirements nor auditions. Any-one who enjoys singing, has a little knowledge of music, and desires to sing with the group is encouraged simply to attend Wednesday evening rehearsals and commit to attendance whenever possible. We’re flexible, under-standing, and usually have fun. Rehearsals begin at 7:00 p.m.
Trinity United Methodist Women are a vital part of the ministry of the church. Members meet at the church on the second Monday of the month at 7:00 p.m. from April to November for study and fellowship. A Christmas meeting is held at someone’s home. Members support the missions of the United Methodist Church around the world, as well as local projects. All women are welcome to attend.
